Chiron, the asteroid-planet known as the 'Wounded Healer', after the Greek mythological figure, Chiron, will form various aspects to planets in our solar system this week, bringing about a deeper sense of vulnerability and sensitivity, especially for water signs and especially Pisces and Scorpio, plus earth signs Virgo and Taurus.
Trust in the healing aspect of events now; this is where the positive aspect of Chiron's healing effect kicks in: in trusting and believing that the greater good and the process involved in healing and regeneration - be this on a physical or a spiritual level - will create strength.
"It is under the greatest adversity that there exists the greatest potential for doing good, both for oneself and others." - Dalai Lama
The New Moon phase is an excellent time for new growth; and not only in plants, but also in personal growth, especially this week: the Sun in earthy Taurus will add extra oomph to your ideas and plans so that they may take root and grow.
This particular New Moon phase will also promote manifestation of your intentions, as this week’s planetary alignments will nurture your bigger-picture plans too, so this truly is an excellent week to make progress: think big and take care of the details.
Midweek has ideal conditions for important conversations, too.
Good luck x
Astro data: the Sun will enter Taurus today at 09h42 GMT; 19h42m AEST; Mars and Mercury will align and make a trine (120 degree angle) to Pluto midweek.
The upcoming New Moon is preceded by Pluto’s ‘station’ today. Pluto will apparently stand still from our point of view here on Earth before it begins a retrograde (apparently backwardly moving) phase. Astrologically, a station can point to a significant event in our lives and, where Pluto is concerned, a key matter, an issue or even a treasure can be revealed.
Pluto, the outermost (dwarf) planet in our solar system, when it is retrograde, fosters introspection, research and discovery of your deeper self and motivation.
The weekend’s New Moon will encourage a fresh outlook, especially concerning matters to do with finances, your own personal journey in life, and the level of stability you wish to manifest in the process.
The New Moon in Aries will very much favour exciting new enterprises, fresh ideas and a dynamic, get-up-and-go approach to life.
Keep an eye out for significant events which really do signal a turning point for you now, especially if you’re interested in beginning a new venture or you wish to turn over a new leaf in life.
Astrologically, it’s relevant that yesterday, NASA’s New Horizons took its first colour photo of Pluto, above; as Pluto is revealed in its splendour, relatively close-up, and including Charon, one of its moons, to the left.
Astro data: Pluto stations today at 03h55m GMT; 13h55m AEST. The New Moon at 28°25’ Aries; will be on February 18, 18h57m GMT; February 19 at 4h57m AEST.

Venus has now entered the air sign Gemini, which will promote re-evaluation of an important area of your life. For many, this will be in connection with communications, neighbours, siblings or travel. You may also find that the negotiations and commitments you undertake are more likely to be motivated by your deeper wishes, so this is a great time to contemplate what really does have relevance and meaning in your life.
Venus in Gemini can bring all sorts of new and fascinating experiences and events your way too, which will add variety to life, but may also be distracting unless you prioritise who – and what – is most valuable to you.
Venus’ transit through Gemini can feel particularly light-hearted and pleasant (especially for air signs Libra, Gemini and Aquarius) particularly if you decide early on what your fundamental goals are, and then enjoy a little more relaxed fun in life, too.
Venus will be in Gemini from April 11 until May 7. Picture of Venus courtesy of NASA.
Keep an eye out for inspiration and fresh ideas which may come out of the blue like lightning this week, bringing illumination, insight and, for some, a new direction.
The alignment of the Sun, Mercury and Uranus spells unexpected news or out-of-the-ordinary events. And, depending where these planets and the Sun are in your birth chart, these will point to exciting plans, as Jupiter in Leo will wish to move your life ahead in exciting ways, too.
These are ideal circumstances over the next two weeks to plan ahead, and to make progress with a favourite project or interest, as Mercury in Aries will encourage positive, upbeat, frank discussion, and Mars in Taurus will keep things down-to-earth and practical.
You’ll enjoy upbeat, progressive, (if at times) heated conversation, and yet you’ll also wish to base your thoughts and discussions in cold, hard facts; ideal conditions for remarkable progress centred in your highest ideals;and with your feet firmly planted on the ground.
Astro data: Mercury conjunct Uranus, and Jupiter station, April 8; Sun conjunct Mercury, April 10. Mercury will be in Aries until mid-April; and Mars in Taurus until mid-May.
The upcoming lunar eclipse will be a real treat, weather permitting. For more, see my astro blog for April at Nature & Health magazine below. Enjoy the eclipse!
